Paul,

It's a bit of a long story. I had my C22 in a Michigan City north
slip for several years. This was the "low rent" district with no power
or water and minimal security. Last year the docks were inundated
by shifting sands and the cheap docks were no longer available. That
prompted me to look around and I found that a mooring in Monroe
Harbor is much cheaper (factor of 3) than a slip in Michigan City.

I decided to try Monroe Harbor this year. It has several advantages.
I can sail after a 15 minute "L" ride from our house in Oak Park,
it is easier to get my kids to sail with me, the Chicago skyline is
really pretty and we can watch the July 4th fireworks, Venetian
Night, and the Air and Water show. I do sail more, but there is
less motivation to use our family's place in Long Beach. I also
miss the ability to sail to the National Lakeshore or the beach near
our house, drop the anchor, and swim.

This spring Ken told me that slips on Trail Creek are also
affordable. I may switch back there next year ...
