John,

For a couple of hours, it probably wouldn't be worth. it, but for an =
occasional day or two of foul weather, I'd think putting up the boom =
room so you could sit it out in palatial comfort would be a "good thing" =
<g>.=20

We primarily daysail at our local lake w/ an occasional over night or =
two there and two or three trailer trips a year where we live on the =
boat for several days at a time.=20

  Mark,

I've considered this and if I buy a better boat that's the route I'll =
probably take. I think the pop-top enclosure and bimini would probably =
be sufficient. I doubt that I would bother to set up a boom room as I =
mostly see myself single-handing the boat. How do you use your boat? I =
see myself doing fairly extensive trailor sailing. Go to someplace, =
launch and live aboard for a week or two with a marina stop every day or =
three to dump the holding tank or porta-potty, shower and resupply. In =
this scenario I see an occasional day or two to sit out stormy weather =
when I'll be confined to the boat. I want that to be a comfortable =
time, not an exercise in misery. =20

Thanks for the input, John Roland

    John,

Seems like it'd be cheaper and a lot easier to just buy the boom =
room and pop-top enclosure. Pretty much the only times I sit below is in =
foul weather or when I'm using the head. If it's not blowing much, =
there's usually a dry spot under the bimini, and, if you had the boom =
room, the entire cockpit could be kept dry. Seems a shame to chop up a =
Rhodes.
