Paul,

In general, the schooner rig does not do as well close hauled as a sloop rig
& is a little faster on a reach or a run.  With a 5 foot LOA advantage on
your Rhodes 22, it's no wonder you often cross behind her.

The Rhodes 22 is at its best in light to moderate air.  If you find yourself
beating her in light air; then, its likely her boat is relatively heavy &
undercanvassed relative to its weight or the bottom may be severely fouled.
In any event, try to beat her in a tacking or gibing duel.  Her boat may be
relatively slow to accelerate after a tack or gibe due to its relatively low
power/weight ratio.
