Alice,

You're very welcome. Keep the questions coming & the list will try to help
you.

I was looking thru my records from our Chesapeake Bay cruise from a couple
of years ago & would like to suggest some reference books for you to take a
look at. You can probably find all of these books at your local marine
chandlery or at any WEST Marine store or catalog.

"Mid-Atlantic Waterway Guide - Coverage From The Chesapeake Bay To The
Florida Border", Published annually by
Waterway Guide, Intertec Publishing Book Division, Customer Service, P.O.
Box 12901, Overland Park, KS, 66282
800-233-3359 or 800-633-6219 (FAX)

The Waterway Guides are especially useful because they discuss anchorages,
marinas & available services, hazards to navigation, & things to see & do
everywhere in their coverage area.

William H. Shellenberger, "Cruising The Chesapeake - A Gunkholer's Guide",
3rd edition? (I have the 2nd edition), International Marine Div. of McGraw
Hill Publishing, Camden, Maine

"Gunkhole": (noun) A sheltered cove or small basin used for anchoring small
watercraft - usually too shallow for large vessels. A perfect place to
visit or anchor overnight in your Rhodes 22 with its shoal draft keel &
kick-up rudder.

MAPTECH Paper Chart Kit:

"Chesapeake & Delaware Bay", 8th edition, MAPTECH #: PAP R4

This chart kit will give you full color reproductions of all the official
NOAA navigational charts for both bays + aerial photography of choice
anchorages + recommended routes with mileage between waypoints for a
fraction of the cost of the NOAA charts.

You might want to get these books right away, Alice. They make fine raw
material for winter dreaming. They cost a lot less than a boat & might just
push you over the edge if you're worried about taking the "plunge". Boy, am
I evil or what?

Hope to see you on the water someday, Alice!
