I did a search for tarp support systems on
trailersailor.com and found this site:
www.ip-wizard.com/sailhints. Lots of ideas including
this one..........

Ever fought with a tarp for a cover that let water and
snow 'pool' in the low spots? This fellow used PVC to
make a frame for a tarp and works fine. Little
trouble, small expense. plastic tied to the
stanchions. No stress on the stanchions, as all the
weight is on the deck. He used 1 1/2" PVC and glued
some of the joints and left enough loose so it can be
disassembled into several easily handled parts and
stored during the summer and reassembled in the fall.
He uses bungees to hold down the cover. It has worked
well for two winters on the original tarp.
