Brad,

you're right, there isn't anything in between. A pair of 3500's should do 
the job for you. Bouncing won't be a problem. The ride will "firm up" some 
though. You'll like how it loses the back and forth side to side rocking 
feeling it may have had before from being too close to the upper limit of 
the springs and flexing them too much.

Again, I believe Dan Bodnar has put rubber torsion bars on his trailer. 
I've never had them on a boat trailer. I have had and have them on several 
race haulers though and really like them. They ride far nicer than springs, 
but won't articulate like the springs can. Might take a little engineering 
to get them on this trailer though.
