Story in New York Times this weekend about brand new Daewoo cars--no =
parts available. GM, which is in talks to buy Daewoo, says it will not =
honor Daewoo warrantees, nor provide parts to US Daewoo dealers. You =
can't fix 'em.

In this discussion, has anyone tried to find a part for a Sears =
or General Electric appliance over 10 years old. Answer: We don't have =
any parts or information on items that old. Does anyone have a car or =
truck over 10 years old. Does the dealer have parts? a part list? Been =
there, done that, the answer is usually "not available".
About 6 weeks ago, a friend bought a 26' sail boat. For the =
moment the manufactures name escapes me. At the time I checked Web for =
information on that boat. None of any kind to be found. I also have a =
coulple of older books listing sailboats of that type. Nothing to be =
found. =20
His 'new' boat is in good condition. He and his wife have =
replaced some sheets and lines. And they are having fun sailing. But he =
(we) have little clue to details of the boat.
>From the tone of the previous discussion on boat information, I =
felt that the asker expected an answer. I am sorry, but there is not =
any obligation on the part of anyone to answer.
But there are many on this list who do try to provide and share =
their information and experience. I am here to that sharing of =
information is more like church fellowship. It more like the menonites =
who help people rebuild houses and barns after a disaster. It is =
uniquely an American Experience.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to all =
who take time to answer the boat questions. =20
