Todd,

Relax, that looks original to me. As long as everything is in good
condition, you should be golden. In fact, that post is teak, so I don't
know how you could have a problem with it. Your bulkhead may have a bit of
water damage, but that should be easy to replace, even though it is probably
not a structural problem. My post was a single piece, but yours will be
just as good if they are joined well.

Don't believe me? check out the cabin pictures on the website. The design
of Fretnaught, Rum Runner, Vista Jay, and Dynamic Equilibrium are all
essentially the same.

Regards,

I am concerned that the compression post and bulkhead in my boat may not be
adequate or have replaced by a previous owner. I have seen a number of
jimmy-rigged things already and would appreciate help on this. The bulkhead
is flimsy 3/8" panel and the post is two 1x3's screwed together. Can anyone
help?

Bill,

This wasn't too bad. I just took the complete test cold turkey without
studying anything & passed with a score 44/50. The sailing simulators are
terrible!
