Bob,

     I haven't inspected the pivot shaft for the centerboard yet, but from an initial wiggle test it did seem a bit sloppy.  I dont think it is a loose enough joint to slide up two inches though.  I wouldn't want the weight of the boat resting on the pivot shaft.  The cb sticks down all the way across.
I made a drawing.
