Here is the latest, as of 4:30

The fleet is tacking north down the lake (down, as in downstream, not south)
It looks like all of the boats are sailing well, and having a great time.

The order is...
1. Country Rhodes, way out in front Estimated one or 2 more tacks until Rik
and Sandy cross the line.
2. Anima... Anne and Elton are working hard and are still in the running
3. Toy Blew GO ROD & MARY!! Toy Blew is sailing on her lines and moving
up!
4. Chickie Babe: Given the sport's reporters interruptions during a tack,
Glen and Dorene are sailing strongly and having a grand time
5. Tom's Foolery: Tom and Vicki Evans are also sailing well in their first
outing on this wonderful lake.

Way to go Rhodies! Unless instructed otherwise, I'm going to save reporting
of the final race results for Dorene and company. I'm sure they'll have an
appropriate press release as soon as celebrations will allow.

OK folks, here's the update...

The race has started, but it is still in the early stages.

Winds are about 5 knots from the north at the moment, and the group is very
tight.

The course: Same as last year. The start is in the middle of the lake, about
even with Light House Landing. It is a down-and-back course to the day
marker outside of Pisgah Bay. The course is roughly 6 miles down and 6
miles back, if I read my chart correctly.

So, here are the standings early in the race. All boats are running before
the wind.
1. Country Rhodes by a boat length
2. ChickieBabe by a boat length or 2.
3. Anima by 1/2 boat length over
4. Tom's Foolery with
5. Toy Blew, close behind.

At this point, it is still anybody's race, and everyone is having fun. (most
important part!)

It looks like windward performance will take it, this year!
