Wally, my boom vang is very simple - a line and two blocks (maybe 3 -

look at it later today) -- runs from a bail on the boom down to the pop
up
bracket on the mast so I can lift the pop-up with no problem.  line goes
through a couple of fair leads and up to a cleat at the aft edge of the
cabin.  works great.
