[Rhodes22-list] 1975 winch question

Todd,

I'm sending one of these winch handles in good shape to Bob today along with
the two winches. I was never able to find replacement handles. I was never
comfortable sailing with only having one winch handle aboard, especially
with my crew. I frequently sailed with my sons, Daniel & Gary, ages 7 & 4
at the time. Gary actually once dropped my only winch handle overboard!
But, the boat was tied to a dock at the time & we were able to recover the
handle. This was another reason I upgraded my winches to a model that used
the standard socket handle attachment. So far (knock on wood), nobody has
lost any of my Harken Speedgrip winch handles overboard. I suppose I'll
eventually lose one & I'll shed a tear at the cost. But, at least I can
purchase a replacement in any marine chandlery. Perhaps GBI can sell/direct
you to replacement pieces/parts. Otherwise, I would check out the flea
markets, 2nd hand shops, & marine chandleries in sea side towns that have a
large sailing community.

Good Luck!

winches is trying to find winch handles. I finally located two, but have to
fabricate the wooden rotating grip. Does anyone know where to find handles
for these winches?
