Steve & Rik,

Smile or no smile, when you poke fun at someone's fundamental being or
fundamental beliefs, it is insulting. If we've learned anything from Columbine or
9/11, it should be that.

Yes, I do sail. And I sail my R22 somewhat better and have improved my boat
by subscribing to this list. I've also commented on a number of topics you
have apparently missed, including:
- keeping the anchor locker dry using the cowl vent
- installing anchor rode chocks
- installing a compression post
- installing a VHF radio in the electric box
- tiller tamer
- upgrading the traveler cleats
- sailing to windward
- keeping suction on the cockpit drain
- keeping hull freeboard shiny
- lowering the IMF mast with deck crane safely
- retrofitting the upper furler bushing
- keeping furling line on the drum
- and most importantly, not storing gas in the lazzerette.

MJM,

As one consultant/whore to another, I am impressed with your largesse. What
I don't understand is how you can be so proud and loyal to what I think we can
agree is a first class boat, yet you don't want to observe the same standard
on the list about the boat. Having this list classified as "inappropriate
content" is a discredit to the Rhodes 22.

If we are now at 190 members, then assuming only a few desertions, half the
members never got a chance to vote on the charter. I know at least 10 members
who would like to improve it. In most states, it takes much less than 5% of
the voters to put an issue on the ballot. So, how about it?

Sorry about the misspelling comment, it was meant to lighten things up. I
didn't realize it was so "fundamental" for you. But now you know how it
feels--a joke to me is a "cheap shot" to you.

Fred
