Bob,
A more delicate way to put it is to tell them that they were excellent
ballast. :)

The "outlaws" reminds me of a day a couple of years back when Kathy's
brother and his wife were visiting. Of course they wanted to go for a
sail. Well, both are very healthy people. The wind was piping up and we
went for it. The boat screamed with them on the windward side of the
boat. Kathy and I kept exchanging glances and smiles. Kathy's brother
and his wife were captured. They wanted to go home and immediately take
sailing lessons. Finally I had to tell him that ordinarilly we would not
be able to sail quite this well if it were just Kathy and I as we would
be overwinded. He asked why we could do it today. I tried to be
delicate by indicating the dynamic balast that we had on board. He
looked at me, never broke stride saying "oh, you mean us fat folks on
board." {:>)

We all had a good laugh and brought out the picnic basket. {:>)
