Julie:
Don't let Stan decide your color. White is the only color that
will not get lighter. A nice shade of purple would be quite
appropriate. If that tickles your fancy, it's your boat.
As far as not sailing in 20 years, if you get the 175 Genoa and
the IMf, you will be able to sail the first day. They are quite easy.
That combination is very appropriate for Lake Hartwell. Both Rummy and
I have that combination.
I use my boat as a day sailor and what the sailing industry
refers to as a picnic boat. We take some sandwiches and drinks and go
sailing. My first mate usually stretches and falls asleep once we get
on the big water.
And, I still think a purple boat with royal gold trim would be
good looking.

Ed. Actually my very favorite color is purple but Stan at Rhodes was
not
too impressed with that suggestion. We had a much easier time deciding
on
what BOAT than the color that is for sure. We were trying to think in
terms
of fading and we had a red O'Day 25 many years ago on the Hudson and it
did
seem to fad a good deal, but I guess they all fade in time. We had a
blue
ski boat when we had a house on Piseco Lake in the Adirondacks. The
problem
on that lake in that area that summer lasted for about 10 days in the
middle
of July. Thanks for the bimini suggestion, we were planning on that add
on
too. We have not sailed in probably 20 years so it should be an
interesting
experience to say the least. Julie

Julie:
Black is hot in the sunny south. A lite color would be better.
How about shocking pink? In the middle of the afternoon in summer you
can sail with a bimini up on Hartwell. A worthwhile add on.
And you will probably want to talk to the guys from Tenn. And
Ark., to find out how to run a generator while sailing, as coming from
the mountains you will want to get A/C, also.
The heat doesn't bother Rummy because he sails with a supply of
ice.

Thanks for the reply. Stan told us to look you up on Hartwell. We are
very
anxious to get down south but are in the process of selling a house in
the
Woodstock NY area. Hopefully that will happen shortly. We are very
excited
about living on the Lake and also very happy that the level is up a lot.
We
were down the end of Dec and looked a lot better. Actually we are going
to
be in Anderson again the end of this week to meet with our builder and
whatnot.

We are just in the beginning stages of our boat purchase and are looking
for
mostly a day sailor with some ability to get out of the sun, since I do
not
do sun well. so if you have any suggestions and recommendations for us
about the Rhodes 22 would very much appreciate hearing about them from
you.
At the moment, we are stuck on the color, believe that or not. At first
we
were thinking RED, and Stan said he did not think that Hartwell had a
Red
Rhodes but now we are kinda leaning toward Black, with a red stripe and
black bottom. What color is your boat?? We are planning to put a dock
on
the lake by our house and are presently looking for one that could
provide
some kind of shelter for the deck, with an awning or something like
that.

Looking forward to hearing more about the Rhodes and meeing you sometime
soon. thanks Julie

Julie,
Welcome to the list. There are six R22's on Lake Hartwell. My wife and I
live
on the lake at the Portman Marina, not far from where you are building.
This
is a great place to live and the Lake is finally returning to it's
normal
level. We keep our boat at the marina which is just a short walk through
the
woods from our house.
