[Rhodes22-list] Collinite

Frank,

Collinite is a brand name for a company that has developed a great solvent for carnuba wax. The cleaner has a lot of this solvent in it, so it will take off any wax, and anything embedded in it, easily. Others on the list have said it has no abrasives in it, but it works so well, you will swear it must. I don't know, but I do use it.

They also make a wax product with this same solvent that deposits a very hard coat of carnuba. It is a little more difficult to handle than other waxes that blend softer wax with the carnuba to make it easier to spread.

I don't think it is possible to put multiple coats of Collinite wax on your boat, because the solvent in the new coat removes the wax previously applied. Others may challenge this. I'm not sure I'm right.

The Collinite wax coating is so hard it's extremely slippery. I only use it on surfaces that are not walked on or sat upon. To protect the deck and the tops of the combing, and the seats, I use Trewax, available from WM. Also I use Trewax on the front of the hull because I can apply multiple coats. I find that the water rubs off all the Collinite at the bow in less than one full season in the water.
