[Rhodes22-list] New Docking Technique

Took the S2 out sailing today, not motoring, sailing.
I was pleased to prove that I could single-hand it but
it was a lot of work. The wind was light and
variable, which means "no wind" but I managed to get
the hull up to 5 knots a couple of times on just the
main anyway. Several beers and a good sunburn later I
motored back to the slip. Things were well under
control at about 1/10 of a knot but there was just
enough wind and current to require some quick and
nimble movement to jump off the boat at the precise
moment and secure the lines. A lady I'd seen earlier
in the day getting off a sailboat was walking by and I
yelled at her to grab the bow line. She looked at me
like I had a third eye or something and after about
three attempts at communication I just threw the bow
line at her. She didn't actually "catch" it so much
as she protected herself from being "attacked" from
it. Either way, she froze in place long enough for me
to secure the stern and then take the line from her
and tie the bow. Frankly, Dale Carnegie wouldn't be
very proud of me. But hey, it worked! The boat still
has its Maryland registration number on it so I hope
her husband is looking for some jerk from Annapolis to
kick his ass.
