1972 Dolphins to Find Mines in Gulf 
(2003-03-27) -- After hearing they could serve their
country by finding mines in the Persian Gulf, members
of the 1972 Superbowl Champion Miami Dolphins reported
for duty in Kuwait. Their presence may defuse a
conflict between animal rights activists and coalition
military leaders.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)
hailed the arrival of the retired football players,
and called on the coalition forces to cease using
marine mammal systems to find floating mines.

"There's no need to risk animal lives when humans can
be used," said PETA President Ingrid Newkirk
