[Rhodes22-list] Broken Furler

For some reason, when I checked my 2000 Rhodes this spring, the furler had smapped off the holder on the mast.  My first instinct is to sand down the broken hole on the furler to avoid snagging the furling line and just attach the furler to the mast with lines when trailering.  Is this a bad idea?  Should I replace the furler?
