[Rhodes22-list] Rhendezvous Rain-out (nearly) Report - bogg?

Wally,

I remember that also. My dad ran a garage for trucks across the street from the Navy Yard. He would take me there from time to time and I would see the ships. It was inconceivable that that place was part of NYC.

The Monitor of Civil War fame was built there. It must have steamed down the East River. Can you imagine? That was before they built the Brooklyn Bridge. Brooklyn was not part of NYC.

Did you go on the parachute jump?

Bill

Bill,

Cool, I did not know that bit it makes sense. That yard was there for along
time. I just remember a bunch of Naval ships in dry docks undergoing various
stages of repairs. My Dad would take me to work every now and then and I
would go out on sea trials. I was only 10 years old but I got a kick out of
it. If things were going smoothly he would let me steer for short periods.
One time he took me up on top of a big crane, I remember the thing really
swaying back and forth. It scared me more than the Cyclone or Wonder Wheel
out at Coney Island.

Wally
