[Rhodes22-list] bimini

Wally, 

   I just added a 36" high Attwood bimini to Fretnaught, so everything is
still fresh in my mind.  (height is 36" when set up, NOT the lengths of the
tubes, which will be much longer) and it is high enough that my boom must be
in the up position.  In fact, the boom tends to rub the middle bow of the
bimini a little if I don't have a little tension on the topping lift. I plan
to shorten the uprights a bit over the winter. I know others who swear they
have the 42 inch bimini.  I'm afraid I can't account for the difference, but
maybe mine is a REALLY TALL 36".  ;^>  Maybe other manufacturers measure
differently.  In either case, you should probably verify your measurements
on the boat.  

In any case, I intend to add the rigid support as Steve mentioned.  It looks
to me like it will make it much easier to use the boat with the bimini
folded up.

Steve or any other Bimini owners:

Does the boom have to be at the highest setting or can you lower the boom 
and still use bimini?
