I can do RAM and ROM.

I can do Pintles and Gudgeons.

Membrane or Tar and Gravel?

If tar and gravel means the black stuff that melts in the sun with a bunch of small stones on it, and membrane means everything else, then this is membrane.

It sort of looks like long  3 or 4 foot wide overlapped sections of shingle material.  One section has some tar like material where I believe it was patched in the past.

The roof is slightly pitched toward rain gutters on 2 sides.  

Your understanding of my situation is correct.

Bill,
As I understand your position, you are going to be building a new addition 
on top of the existing roof, so you are looking for a termporary, watertight 
solution. Can you describe the roofing materials that are currently on the 
sunporch? Is it a membrane or is it a tar and gravel roof?
