Speaking of hairy duct tape, I had to do a temporary fix this summer on my 
outboard cover.  The release latch failed early in the season, so I used duct 
tape to keep the cover attached to the motor base until I pulled the boat out 
last fall.  Now I have old, hard adhesive and duct tape fiber sticking to the 
enamel paint of the boat cover.

Any ideas on how I can remove the tape residue without damaging the paint it 
is sticking to?
