[Rhodes22-list] ROGER QUESTION?

Todd, Russ, &/or Will?

I would expect any discoloration of the gel coat &/or bottom paint caused by
the the oil spill would not be very deep. I would expect some rubbing
compound would bring the hull's gel coat back to its normal color & shine.
A normal power wash, scuff sanding, & fresh coat of bottom paint should have
the bottom as good as new. If the hull topsides are bad enough to require
painting, I would question the gel coat's condition prior to the oil spill.
In any case, a good quality topsides paint job should last as long as ever &
I don't see why an insurance company would shy away from covering the boat
as long as its survey didn't show any problems.
