Jay,

We had a 135% Genoa made by Doyle (I'm thinking it was made by their
Caribbean loft) and are pretty happy with the sail. We sent our 175% in to
Doyle City Island to have a luff pad added, and they screwed it up. Ugly
seams, puckered sunbrella, a mess. Had to send it back to get them to fix it
and we're still not very happy with it. If we had it to do all over again,
we'd have all the work done by Mack Sails in Ft. Pierce, FL
(www.macksails.com).

Last summer our old 1988 main tore at the sunbrella near the clew. We
repaired it, but then decided we needed to bite the bullet and get a new
sail since the old one was pretty baggy. We had visited Bob and Kathy Quinn
last spring and took a look at the main Mack Sails had made for them several
years ago. We were quite impressed by the quality and workmanship, and Bob
and Kathy had nothing but good things to say about the sail and the company.
We decided to have Mack make one for us, too.

We had the clew cut about 10" higher than the original Lee sail, enabling it
to wrap on the furling tube w/o building up and binding at the base. At
their suggestion, we also attached a stainless eyelet to the base of the
furling tube, just above the furling assembly. We then ran a line between
the tab at the tack of the sail and the eyelet so we could adjust the luff
tension w/o having to stretch and drill - sort of like a downhaul.

If I recall correctly, the total cost was about $425 or $450. The sail is
great - very well built, excellent workmanship. We're very happy with it,
and we really enjoyed working with Colin Mack. We finally got a chance to
meet him at the SSCA gam in Melbourne, FL last November. He's a good guy. If
you contact him, let him know I sent you.
