Clay,
the same thing happened to me last year.
However, I was sailing and the jib came down most the way.
Unfurl the jib and you can remove the sail from the bottom.
The Furler comes off with a few screws removed. I then took
the sail to be sewn (few blocks away) and reattached the
furler at bottom of stay.
the next week i took the mastdown and re threaded the jib into
the stay from bottom to top. 40 minute job.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Help with jib

I was out sailing today (without Shannon 8-)) and noticed the jib didn't
look right. The head of the jib has a canvas strap that attaches it to the
top of the forestay that broke. I took the attached pictures of the
masthead. I know I have to lower the mast to remove the sail which should be
no problem as I have the GB mast hoist system. I don't know how the sail
comes off. Does the top circular disk come off then the sail can be slid out
through the top? Do I unfurl the sail first? Can it be done with the mast
lowered and the boat in the water? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Clay
