MJM,

A recent article in the magazine Good Old Boat describes using plastic 
composite yard deck planking to make a faux teak boat deck.  You might get some 
hints from that.

Also, the last issue of Consumer Reports compares characteristics and prices 
of plastic composite yard decking.
