Subject: RE: question and RE: [Rhodes22-list] Just a thought.

Yesterday, we visited the yacht club here in Recife, Brazil, and looked at
other boats and the possibility/feasibility of owning or chartering a
sailboat down here. Most of the boats at the club are in the 24 to 28 foot
range and are suitable for coastal sailing. Most of them have fixed keels
and are not as tender as an R22. Like everything else here, I'm not
familiar with the makes of these boats.

There's an annual regatta that goes from here to the islands of Fernando de
Noronha--about 4oo km WNW of Recife. This is a dream trip for us, but most
of those vessels are larger, more blue water types. This year, they have
about a hundred boats registered for the event and we'd settle just to crew.

Hopefully, we can meet some of the people who do this and one never
knows...

It's been pretty rainy here so we haven't had much of a chance to get out on

the beach, water, etc. Still, we're having a good time--wish you were here!

Slim
