[Rhodes22-list] Steve's spinnaker quest

Steve,

Did you see the pics of Raven's masthead / halyard restrainer I sent out a
few weeks ago? There's a swivel block attached to a u-bolt like bail that
worked well for us. Let me know if you need me to resend.

Mark

Thanks Ed.
Yeah the Bail problem has had me thinking for quite
some time. I have that little "U bolt" in front of my
masthead but have never been able to decide whether it
would handle the load of a spinnaker. It's the
standard "U bolt" setup that came with the boat on the
masthead. It has 2 hex key screws that hold it into
the holes on front of the masthead.

I have seen folks just hook a block on there & rig a
halyard for a spinnaker but am still leary of it
pulling out. I have always like Roger setup but don't
want to redesign the masthead. Of course if I got a
bargain on a spinnaker, I can easily drop the headsail
on my schafer furler & just use my genoa halyard.

Anyway, just something I keep thinking about.
Steve
