[Rhodes22-list] Lloyd's number game

Lloyd,

There must be some other riddle to the numbers, because in the
last year or two Stan was asked how many Rhodes 22's he had made. I do
not recall the number exactly, but it was either about 1,000 or 2,000
total. This included earlier contractor built boats. Stan clams
poverty not riches. One visit to the plant when it is raining would
prove his assertion. Maybe Rose has all the money and she just lets him
play with his toys.

Peter,

Thanks for your reply. Lets see, 29x12=348 boats a year, 1986 to 2003=
17
years, 348x17=5,916 boats up to August last year. Damn, Stan must be
one
rich son-of-a-gun, sort of the Henry Ford of the yachting world!

Uhuru is Swahili for "Freedom". I worked in Kenya several times as an
advisor to the US and Kenyan governments in my role as a 'dirt road
specialist', real high-tech stuff! I became quite interested in the
then
current history of the Mau Mau uprising there because I found Kenya to
be
the most interesting of the seven countries in African in which I
pedaled my
wares when not confusing the locals in various other Asian and/or South
American countries. When I was looking for a boat name that was a
little
off the beaten path and at the same time had some special significance
to
me, Uhuru was a clear winner. The original 'Uhuru', a Gulf 27, was to
be
my retirement boat but then I got a three year position as an advisor to
the
Ministry of Works in Jamaica and sold her. Uhuru II is my third boat
since
then.

What is a Star Trekkie?

Lloyd
s/v Uhuru II
