MJM & Richard,

I think we are being to easy on him rather than to hard! I have visited,
surfed, and sailid in the Outer Banks of NC for many years I can assure you
no one anchors close to this beach area. The Outer Banks are known for
strong tides, large waves, and strorms. It is poor judgement to anchor near
the shore ocean side. In over 30 years I have never seen a sailboat anchor
ocean side from the VA border down to Ocracoke Island. If one wants to
anchor you go inside at Ocracoke or Oregon Inlet, or just stay off shore.
The weather shows a forecasted three day storm. Many beach roads were washed
out in an area that is used to handling large storm surge. I don't know what
the hell he was thinking! This guy used terrible judgement.

Island Packets are off shore boats. He should have been off shore or
anchored inside the sound.

Wally
