[Rhodes22-list] Politics - more fuel for the fire

Bob,

I don't know. All anyone can do at this point is
speculate. Pilots are loathe to rush to judgement
until all the facts are in on an accident and
sometimes that takes months if not years.

Having made that disclaimer, given the weather and the
long duty day, statistically, it was probably a garden
variety CFIT accident. CFIT - Controlled Flight Into
Terrain. They were tired, got below glidepath, and
hit trees short of the runway.

The papers go off chasing stories about this/that
equipment, blah, blah, blah. You can put so much
equipment on a plane it can barely take-off but it
won't help you at the end of a 15 hour day and you're
too tired to use it! The release of the cockpit voice
recorder transcript will help. Right now the papers
are writing stories based on snippets released by the
NTSB.

BTW - Black boxes are actually orange cans.
