[Rhodes22-list] Sail Cover Specs

Scott,

I have a nice sail cover that was on my '84 Rhodes when I bought it. At
that time I used the bolt rope to fasten my mainsail to the mast so when I
lowered it while single-handing I got a pile of sailcloth in my cockpit.
Sometimes it would take me almost 1/2 hour trying to get the mainsail
properly furled on the boom by myself before I could get the cover to fit
around the sail and boom properly. Of course, with a crew it only took a
fraction of the time. Eventually I converted to slugs on the mainsail luff
and put a stopper on the mast slot so the sail would stay attached to the
mast. The slugs take a lot of space on the mast but my sail cover fits very
nicely with no jaming or cramming. I would suggest that the dimensions you
were given are for the configuration I now use. However my sail is now in
my cellar and my boat is on the West River in Maryland so I can not give you
any exact measurements. However I am 6' tall and when I am standing on my
foredeck and fastening my sail cover the top tie (of the sailcover around
the mast) is about eye level.

Lloyd
