[Rhodes22-list] Wally, Pop Top Cover and Fee

Wally,
What we are calling brokerage fees might more appropriately called
finders or referral fee. A broker usually has control over the item and
usually is involved with active promotion of the product, i.e., advertising,
signage, brochures, et al.
As I recall, Stan usually has several used Pop Top covers. While he
has them earmarked for potential recycled boats, he is known to part with
them. Both you and Chris might inquire if he has any used Boom Rooms.
You have the advantage in both situations. You could go by Edenton
on your way to the outer banks. Just past the plant is a bridge that takes
you back to U.S. 64, so that you would not have to go the Northern (busy)
access to the outer banks.
One thing to be pointed out is that Stan does not recycle older
boats. I think that the lady calling and emailing him with questions during
the work day about a 30 year old boat aggravated the situation. The only
person available to answer technical questions in English at General Boats
is Stan. Maybe he should require all questions about older boats to be in
Romanian or Spanish. That way he would not have to stop what he is doing.
I sit here wondering if our minister Rhodie has called the lady with
the falling keel? There is no word from Alan.
The discussion of the Boom Room came from John. When I saw the
question, I wondered if he looked at the pictures on this web site or
bothered to look at the GBI site. Mary Lou and Bill were overly gracious in
their replies.

Addendum: "One of the keepers at Cape Romain Lighthouse was a Norwegian
named Fischer. He loved the desolate isle and his duties as keeper, but,
unfortunately, his wife did not share his enthusiasm for their new life
style. She was miserable and homesick for her native Norway, her family,
and her friends. She begged her husband to let her make an extended visit
to Norway, but he refused. The couple quarreled frequently about the issue
until she told him she was going. Fisher was so enraged that his wife would
not accept the word of her husband as "law" that he stabbed her to death
with a kitchen knife." P 105, Lighthouses of South Carolina
