I don't understand why people are installing Biminis instead of "Canvas" 
Sunshades.

In our part of the country, people on sailboats tend to use 
sunshades--roll up canvas, stretched from pop top or cabin top to rear 
shrouds when needed.  They are deployed under the boom, and can be used 
while sailing.

I can understand why powerboats traveling at higher speeds want the 
metal frames of the Bimini.  Why do we need them?
