Slim,

Congratulations to your fellow musicians and here's to
a great 2005. I intended to start this missive with a
lyric from Hank, Jr. "Ain't it good to be alive and in
Tennessee!" but the weekend was a mixed bag. My best
friend drove down from Illinois and we survived New
Years with the usual silliness. Yesterday the weather
was just awsome. Highs in the sixties and wind up to
20 knots. We buried the rail a few times, not
because it made sense, just because we could. At
times we were doing over 8 knots. Last night my buddy
caught a ride to one of the local bars while I slept
on the boat. About nine or so he was jogging back to
the marina and was arrested for public intoxication.
He tried to explain to the officer that drunks don't
jog but that logic just pissed the cop off even more.
I got a call about 4:30am to come bail him out. Guess
that's payback time for my snide remark about the
local muscisians. Ken was pretty upset and wants to
sell the property we bought together. Maybe a few
days of "spool down" time will change his mind.
Anyway, the first sail of 2005 was wonderful. The
experience with the local Gestapo wasn't.
