Stephen:

Michael has offered you two excellent approaches. Art has offered a
way of doing one of Michael's approaches. Jerry has given you the technical
details how to do it the least expensive way.
I have sailed on R 22's with both systems. Mine has Stan's design.
Stan's system is simpler but you cannot change sails, however when you only
have one sail that is not a problem. The CDI system allows for sail
changing. The CDI system of putting a sail on is not as simple as hanking
an old fashion sail on. Putting a big sail on does require at least two
people.

Whichever approach you take, now is the time to get your order in.
Remember, that Stan can order whatever you need. Moreover, he knows the
correct lengths. You may want to get a bid from him.

Addendum: The rules for decision making are: "Avoid making any decisions if
at all possible; and if a decision has to be made, involve as many people as
you can so that, if things go south, you're able to point in as many
directions as possible." Robert Jackall as quoted by William Safire.
