[Rhodes22-list] The Energy Crisis and Sailing

Here's a thought for a new discourse on the subject on
energy. Since I sail on a TVA lake (like Wally, Anne,
and some others) which is connected to the Great Lakes
and the Gulf of Mexico, I take some comfort that if
necessary, I could live almost self-sustained and
provide my own energy needs. Provided the terrorists
don't blow the dam, I could change locations if
desired. Give me about 30 gallons of bio-diesel, a
wind generator, an inverter, and a good set of
batteries and I'm good to go. While this is a
lifestyle that most dream about but only a few pursue,
it is possible. Which brings up the next question.
Where is distributed energy in the equation? We
already know that the electric grid infrastructure is
flawed (remember the blackout), doesn't having nukes
scattered around the country feeding major industrial
areas make more sense than isolated plants eating
massive amounts of coal?

More later, gotta go dump 60,000 pounds of fine Jet-A
in the atmosphere.
