[Rhodes22-list] Peter Thorn and other racers

Ed,

On Rummy's boat with the boom out that far, IMHO the main needs a vang to
tighten up the leech a little, since travellers do not work well at that
angle. If that could be arranged, the main would spill less air out the
leech on the reach and Rummy might go a bit faster. Without the vang, a
puff just lifts the boom, opens the leech and spills air.

Raven came with a vang that Mark says he never used. I've been wondering
how to attach it to the tabernacle bolt: perhaps with some high tech line
around the bolt and a small block riding on the line -- just for such
occasions.

Back to work...

Look at the pictures from Yankee Clipper and Rum Runner sailing on Sunday.
I have a question on sail adjustment. Looking at the leach of the main, is
it correct or most efficient to have it that loose?

Addendum: Instructions that say low maintenance really mean impossible to
fix.

Well shucks, Rummy's rails aren't even close to the water.
