Dick,
The Rhodes is a great boat to sail, the combination of IMF and furling
headsail will put you out on the water twice as much as you go out now.Lets
say your driving by the lake, look at the flag and see it streaming straight
out,looks like about 10 kts.
you look at your watch, you have 1.5 hours until you have to be home. On the
Alburg, that's just about enough time to motor out, hank on the sails, tack
once, and start putting everything back away.On the Rhodes, you give it a
shove away from the dock, loosen the control line on the IMF,pull the outhaul
tight and cleat it,unfurl the headsail and pick a course that will have you
back in 86 minutes(2 min. to set the sails, 2 min. to put them away) It
really is that easy, everything is done from the cockpit.Reefing the main
takes about 45 seconds,and it's not 1st reef, 2nd reef----it's 0 to100% sail
area.
Single handing is a dream on a Rhodes.
