[Rhodes22-list] Mystery location identified (I hope)

It's Montauk Point westward to Nepeague Bay.  The Atlantic is at the top Gardiners bay to the bottom of the photo (north)

Although not evident in the photo the Montauk Light is spectacularly situated at the extreme eastern end of the peninsula on a high cliff.  It's generally the first sight of the main land when sailing from Block Island to the mainland.

One must give the point itself a wide berth... wicked cross currents and confused seas.

Nice steady sea breeze in summer, smooth water and a great place to sail.

 Just off the photo (to the right) is Gardiner's Island uninhabited and privately owned and even further west of Gardiner's is Shelter Island
