Kevin, Welcome and congrats. I don't think it matters much. Just make sure
rudder is snug so the rudder doesn't have room to swing up and down.

>Hello All,

>I've been following posts for awhile. Your discussions re. the rhodes22 and
>sailing in general have been most helpful. My wife and I spent time with
>Elton at the Annapolis show and went for a leisurely demo sail with Stan
>and Ed K. We quickly placed an order for a recycled 89 which was delivered
>1 month ago. the purchase has been a very positive experience and we
>couldn't be happier. The boat is wonderful. General boats, Stan , and Elton
>deserve all the accolades that have been offered by those on the list.
>After driving 5 hours, Elton spent 7 hours with us at delivery, setting up,
>launching , and patiently introducing us to all aspects of the Rhodes 22.
>He and Stan are very inspiring. Laurie and I are relatively new to sailing
>and have been out twice in light winds and have been quite pleased. We have
>a slip at Yankee Point Sailboat Marina in Lancaster Va. and will be
>sailing in the Rappahannock River and lower Chesapeake Bay. Would love to
>meet up with some Chesapeake
> Rhodies in the area. I need a little help with slip lines. We moor bow in
>with two stern lines on pilings and a spring line. The marina suggested we
>cross the stern lines to reduce sideway movement. However if the rudder is
>raised these lines can find their way under it and place pressure on it. Is
>it ok to keep the rudder down when tied to a slip or should I try to adjust
>the stern lines somehow and raise the rudder? All suggestions are welcomed.
>I'm sure this will be the first of many questions as we get our feet wet
>this summer. thanks very much
