Rummy,

Ah, Lake Woebegone. It's in a region we Minnesotans refer to as "Up North"
even if you live in Duluth. It's not actually north of Duluth but they know
what you mean. You have to pack up your soccer mom mini van with plenty of
egg salad sandwiches and black coffee in the thermos because it'll be a
pretty long drive through the area just called "the Lakes." It's past the
prairie, but not as far as the woods. When you start seeing signs like
"Bait Sandwiches" (no comma) you're getting close.

You'll be seeing a lot of shiny John Deere tractors being driven down the
highway by 10 year old boys. Grandpa's in the pickup driving along the
ditch. You'll see large frame houses on huge lots surrounded by rail
fences. The big lawns are very neatly mowed and in the front yard, you'll
see something that looks like a bath tub turned on its end and sunk half way
into the ground. In it, there will be a statue of the Virgin Mary. You're
very close now.

Look for the Chatterbox Café with all the pickups in front. Keep going past
the Catholic church with those big, black Catholic birds in front. Look for
the Calvary Lutheran church with the little brown Lutheran birds flittering
among the lilacs. Most of the mailboxes will say Anderson but also Olson,
Peterson, Gunderson, Erickson, Hanson, Jacobson and a few Schmitts.

You're so there now.

Slimmy
