[Rhodes22-list] Political or sailing list?

Refent1,

We've been through all this before, and the group's decision has been, and I
expect always will be, "anything goes". It's as much a social as a sailing
forum for many.

That said, you're not the only one who has expressed a desire for a forum
w/o all the politics, etc. Perhaps there's a solution: go to
www.googlegroups.com, create an account, and open a "rhodes22 at googlegroups"
list. You can distribute list administration among several folks (so you
don't get overloaded like mjm <g>), and if you really want to prevent
non-sailing topics, set it up as a moderated list. A big plus is that they
don't hammer you with ads the way Yahoo and MSN do (their motto is "don't be
evil"). I'd also suggest that you then invite everyone from this list to at
least monitor the new one - some will and some won't, but it would be in
your favor to ask anyway, since there's a wealth of R22 experience here.

Geesh, I thought this was a mail list dedicated to Peculiarities and joys
of sailing Rhodes 22.

So farbeen a bit of a dissapointment.

Mailbox filled with political disputations.

Why ruin sailing with Political and social policy arguments?

Perhaps a new adjunct list might be in order.

"Political and social commentary by Rhodes 22 sailors list."

At least then potential subscribers to such a list would know what they are
getting into and not be waylaid by Political disputations filling their
email box.
