Bill:
If you will look at your statement and question you may begin to
understand our differences.
You stated: "Fish around here start dying when the water
temperature approaches 80." More information is needed to accurately draw a
conclusion. Start by asking which fish? All fish? Where? In lakes? In
Rivers? In order to draw an accurate and good conclusion you need to begin
to ask for better information (you know, what you call facts). Your
statement begets questions without asking a question off of it.
As to the question, "Do you have problems with fish kills?" What
does your question mean? Do we have fish kills in general or specifically
caused by temperature? Which fish are killed, are there differences between
species?
Is your question do we have fish kills because of the warm water in
Lake Hartwell, the short answer is no. Lake Hartwell is a deep lake, I
guess at least 200 feet in spots. It is cooler at depths so fish wanting
cooler water go to their comfort level. Ask Rummy how deep the lake really
is. I will leave the accurate measurements to the guy with the tape
measure.
Study this page to gain more insight into Lake Hartwell:

I guess you would have to investigate both the Georgia and South Carolina
Wildlife departments to find out about fish kills, since you are interested.
