thanks for the quick response.... took me a while to find this list.

actually i have already exchanged emails w/ stan... i'm starting off
looking in the $10-15K range, he has nothing now, but said probably in
summer or fall.... offered some inexpensive non rhodes boats for spring w/
trade in within 2 years....

(i agree w/ your potter comments... the one i looked at last weekend was on
trailer, so the mast was in crutch and the centerboard up.... kind of hard
to move around in there... hard to tell what it might be like with mast and
centerboard up.)

ride offer would definately be worth the rum..... but its a pretty good haul
from pa. (although i was down in cowpens for business a couple of times this
past year.)

I have read a ton about the rhodes. It sounds like exactly what i would
want, but have yet to see one..

as a quick intro.... i have limited but "intense" sailing experience...
never sailed until an old friend needed someone to crew for a trip two years
ago..... from connecticut to the abacos. so i took a 3 month vaca/leave
from work and went. the 2 of us sailed his c&c37 mostly "outside", several
passages over 50 hours, (3 on , 3 off). went "inside" only for the capes,
thru dismal swamp canal, etc.... we left stamford late oct and it was
freezing until about charleston when it finally warmed up..... some very
awsome times, some not some awesome times (and one very shaky time).

in any case, i got the bug in a big way.... last summer rented a pearson 26
for a week in new hampshire, and got my wife hooked as well. so now its
time to buy one for myself.

i'm trying to find time to get down to edenton (and maybe SC?).. but in the
meantime, if anyone on the list has one closer to pa that i could look at, i
would greatly appreciate hearing from them.... and any general advice as
well.

i could go new, would be nice, but thats a good chunk of change for a first
boat. lots of catalinas, o'days, macgregors, precisions for sale around
here, but i'm pretty convinced rhodes is the way i want to go.

thanks again.. it looks like there is a lot of info and help available on
this site.
