My ex-father in law had a 12' aquacat (forunner of the Hobie) with a 1 1/2 hp seagull motor he used in hawaii for fishing and diving.  In St Augustine, Fl there was a 45' motor sailer that they just removed the mast and used it as a slow crusier.
