Here is our launch checklist as it stands currently, please note that we do 
have the bale attached to the mast for use with the mast hoist - others may 
not.

Launch Checklist  7/05



WARNING: Never let anyone stand under the mast during the hoisting

Note: If the pop-top slider has been removed from mast, it needs to be 
re-installed before raising

Note: Check tilt on motor to ensure that it is locked down



Mast Raising - Need chain extenders & mast hoist

  1.. Inspect masthead, check shroud and stay connections to mast
  2.. Attach wind indicator to mast
  3.. Remove all tie downs from mast
  4.. Slide hatch closed
  5.. With the mast resting on the mast crutch roller, walk the mast, boom 
and jib aft and connect the mast to the tabernacle
  6.. Connect hoist crane to cabin top block
  7.. Tie the crane winch line to the bow cleat
  8.. Attach line from crane to mast bail and connect aft lowers to their 
chain plates
  9.. Connect back stays to their chain plates, making sure back stays are 
in front of stern rail
  10.. Connect upper shrouds to their chain plates
  11.. Put the 8" extensions on the forward lower shrouds and connect to 
their
  chain plates (3rd link from deck)
  12.. Begin raising the mast, continually checking for any shrouds or stays 
getting snagged or kinked, making sure the turnbuckles aren¹t fowled and 
tending the jib as it comes forward
  13.. Raise the mast all the way up, keeping tension on the winch until you 
connect the bow stay to its chain plate
  14.. Disconnect the mast hoist crane (stow in vehicle) and attach aft 
lower shrouds to their chain plates
  15.. Remove forward lower shroud extensions and connect shrouds to their 
chain plates (stow chain in cabin)
  16.. Adjust shroud turnbuckles as needed
  17.. Connect traveler bar between back stays
  18.. Lower the boom and connect it to the traveler
  19.. Install backstay adjuster and tighten the back stay tensioning line
  20.. Disconnect mast caddy (stow in vehicle)
  21.. Run jib furling line thru small block below furler, run to padeye on 
starboard side of cabin, 2nd padeye and then thru jam cleat on starboard 
cabin top
  22.. Attach VHF and masthead light connections
  23.. Connect pop top to mast slider
  24.. Run main sheet through blocks on boom/traveler bar
  25.. Put plug in drain




Prep for haul-out:  make sure centerboard is at least partially down on 
haul-out, motor is up, and rudder is up



Mast Lowering - Need chain extenders, mast hoist, and mast caddy

  1.. Raise centerboard
  2.. Attach mast hoist to plate and attach support rope from mast bale to 
mast bale
  3.. Attach mast hoist support to bow cleat
  4.. Disconnect VHF and masthead lights
  5.. Attach mast caddy to stern, attach lines to forward portion of stern 
cleats and attach center to stern rail
  6.. Remove traveler and stow in cabin
  7.. Remove backstay adjuster
  8.. Remove topping lift from cleats and raise boom to mast with topping 
lift and cleat on  port side of mast
  9.. Remove pop-top slider from mast and move to upper position on mast
  10.. Slide pop-top closed
  11.. Secure Velcro strap around jib and remove jib sheets, coil and tie to 
jib
  12.. Put chain on lower forward stays (3rd link from deck)
  13.. Loosen outer sidestays slightly
  14.. Remove plastic sidestay protectors
  15.. Snug the hoist to slack the bow stay and remove pin
  16.. Lower mast watching stays for excessive tightness or snags
  17.. Remove all stays
  18.. Remove mast hoist and stow in vehicle
  19.. Remove mast base bolt and slide mast forward to rest on bow pulpit
  20.. Make sure jib is as far forward alongside mast as possible
  21.. Wrap jib outhaul around mast and bow pulpit to secure, use remainder 
to snug the jib to mast
  22.. Tie down mast to bow cleat, spreader arms, mast base
  23.. Coil back stays with Velcro and hang from mast and then to tiller arm
  24.. Secure motor
  25.. Secure ladder
  26.. Tie rudder to port side
