A Yamaha 250 HP outboard I once had was equipped with an emergency pull
start cord that I fortunately never had to use.  I imagine that the smaller
ones would also.

Check your Yamaha "tool kit" as the starting cord is in all probability in
the kit.  I believe the manual gives this short shift but the process is
fairly simple.  Yes, the cowl has to be removed but you can indeed manually
start the engine if your battery is dead or the electric start system fails.
