Art,
most every good sized coastal town has a "Marine Surplus" store near by.
The closest store to me is near Cocoa at Port Canaveral called Flounder Pounder,
see: www.fpmarine.com These surplus stores are a trip to rumage through, lots
of odd's and ends everywhere, some new, some pulled off of boats. You never
know what you might find. Anyways, they have several odd-sized plexiglass sections
to choose from - still with the paper on. (New plexiglass has brown paper on
both sides to protect it from scratches.) I got an ample-sized sheet for $40.
A friend of mine has a band-saw. We first cut plywood templates, then cut
the plexiglass when we were satisfied with the fit of the template. I think my
plex is 1/2" stock.
